The search continues for a missing helicopter used by the International Committee of Red Cross for its earthquake relief effort in Pakistan.
A Red Cross official, James Reynolds says the Soviet-era Mi-8 helicopter from Turkmenistan with a crew of seven was returning home Friday when the control tower lost contact as the aircraft crossed into Afghan airspace.
The official said the cause of the disappearance was not clear.
U.S. and NATO peacekeeping forces in Afghanistan are participating in the search operation.
A NATO spokesman said there was no indication that the helicopter had come under fire from militants on the Afghan-Pakistan border.
The Afghan Interior Ministry said it was unaware of any reports of a crash on its territory.
