Tight Security in India Ahead of Republic Day Celebrations

Hundreds of troops and police are securing India's capital, New Delhi, as the country prepares for its traditional Republic Day celebrations Thursday.

India celebrates every January 26th, with lavish parades in all major cities, highlighting its military power and cultural diversity.

In recent years, celebrations across the country have been targeted by a variety of groups, including Islamic militants and Maoist rebels. Several groups have called for a boycott of Republic Day.

Security will be especially tight in New Delhi, where anti-aircraft guns are mounted on high-rise buildings.

Paramasish Ghosh Roy reports about the tight security in West Bengal including Kolkata.
