West Bengal celebrated the 57th Republic Day peacefully on Thursday amidst tight security.
The major program was a grand and colorful parade at the historic Red Road (Indira Gandhi Sarani) as the state Governor Gopal Krishna took salute in the presence of many dignitaries.
Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Justice V S Sirpurkar, and other top officials of the defense and state government were present.
