A fire has raced through a slum in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, destroying about 700 huts. A fire official told the Associated Press the blaze left nearly three-thousand people homeless.
Officials say the fire broke out Wednesday night in Dhaka's western Rayerbazar district. A local television station says several people were slightly hurt as they fled the blaze. The fire spread quickly between hundreds of huts made from bamboo and plastic sheets. Fire crews took several hours to bring the blaze under control.
