A former Bengali diplomat from Bangladesh S A Karim , who was the foreign secretary of Bangladesh during Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s regime has recently written a book titled, Sheikh Mujib : Triumph and Tragedy where he describes the achievements and failures of the founding father of Bangladesh.
Ambasador Karim , in an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service , says that the major achievement of Sheikh Mujib was to bring freedom for his people and the biggest folly that he made was the nationalization of all business concerns including those belonging to Bengalis.
S A Karim also narrates the story of his allegiance to Bangladesh in 1971 when as a Bengali diplomat in the erstwhile Pakistan foreign service he decided to shift his loyalty to Bangladesh and its war of liberation .
