Danish Newspaper Says it Will Not Print Iranian Holocaust Cartoons

The chief editor of the Danish newspaper which first printed the controversial political cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad says he will refuse to print Holocaust cartoons from an Iranian newspaper.

Carsten Juste said Wednesday the Holocaust cartoons will under no circumstances appear in Jyllands-Posten. The newspaper's culture editor said earlier Wednesday the newspaper would consider printing the cartoons, but would not make a decision until she saw them.

As a reaction to the Danish cartoon depicting Muhammad as a terrorist, the Iranian newspaper Hamshahri announced a contest this week for what it calls the best cartoon about the Holocaust.

The U.S. State Department calls the contest "outrageous."
