Bangladesh has put its border police — the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) — on alert to prevent any infected poultry products from entering the country. The BDR has been asked to stop both chickens and eggs from entering the country.
Bangladesh has so far reported no cases of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu in poultry or in humans.
But the government is taking extra precautions after authorities in India confirmed the country's first outbreak of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu.
