An overcrowded boat carrying at least 100 people returning from an Islamic pilgrimage in Bangladesh capsized on Monday. Reports from the scene in southern Bangladesh say at least one person has died and 20 others are missing.
The boat went down south of the capital, Dhaka, on the Kirtankhola River near Barisal city. Authorities say the ferry was close to shore when it listed and abruptly capsized, so many people on board were able to swim to safety.
