Bangladesh PM and Opposition Leader to Address Parliament on Tuesday

Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and Leader of the Opposition Sheikh Hasina will be addressing the members in the Parliament on the last day of the current session.

In her speech the leader of the House is likely to respond to the opposition's reform proposals for the caretaker government system and the Election Commission, placed in parliament 15 days ago.

Apart from the reforms, issues like militancy, price hike of essentials and the crises of electricity, diesel and fertilizer may also feature in their speeches.

The two leaders last faced each other in the Jatiya Sangsad on July 14, 2004 when they debated the history of Liberation War. Ending the 17-month boycott, the opposition leader joined parliament on February 12 this year.

Matiur Rahman Choudhury has more on the story.
