A physically challenged woman was burnt alive and several shanties were gutted in a fire at a slum in Pagla area of Narayanganj yesterday morning.
Local people said the fire originated from a oven at one of the shanties of the slum near Suryamahal Cinema Hall at about 10:00am and soon engulfed the entire slum, killing Nurunnahar, 50, and injuring 20 others. Of the injured, two were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) while the remaining 18 to Narayanganj Hospital.
