Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year is the largest cultural festival, indeed, in the life of every Bengali. Pahela Baishakh was celebrated with much enthusiasm and fanfareall over Bangladesh on Friday . However the security was tight this year after spates of bomb attacks in the past. .
The main venue for celebration of the festival was Ramna Batamul where Chhayanaut performed the customary open air cultural function . Besides many colorful processions were brought out to celebrate the occasion. People painted their faces colorfully to express their immense joy on the first day of Bengali new year.
