Patricia Butenis, the new US Ambassador in Bangladesh says that Bangladesh is a country of opportunities and Challenges. She said the next general election in Bangladesh will be very important and significant for democracy in the country.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service over telephone, the US envoy says that it is important that the election is held with a consensus amongst all political parties in Bangladesh. She expressed her hopes that Bangladesh will continue to hold its democratic heritage. She said that the US will continue to assist Bangladesh to help her people progress.
Ms Butenis , who has previously worked in India and Pakistan in various capacities in the US mission , says that the region is well known to her and she hopes that problems in the region should be resolved within the region itself.
