Representatives from BGMEA ( Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association ) after having a meeting with Bangladesh Caucus , comprising of US Congressmen and Senators on Trade Bill have returned home on Friday.
Tipu Munshi, the President of BGMEA while talking to the journalists at Dhaka Airport said that there is a possibility of presenting a Trade Bill in the US Senate to allow a duty free import of ready made garments from fifteen countries including Bangladesh. It has been said , on behalf of the US Administration that they are not going to take any initiatives to get this bill passed. However the BGMEA President says that he is hopeful that this bill is going to get through.
