Garments Workers in Bangladesh Protest Again

Garments workers in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone at Saver went on the rampage once again on Sunday, six days after a series of violent clashes in which three were killed and 150 injured.

Several hundred workers of the Experience Sweaters Industry, a knitting garment factory owned by a Pakistani, located in the old zone of the export processing zone, gathered in front of the factory at about 10:00am demanding the payment of their dues. As the workers did not join work, some people loyal to the owner tried to force them to join work, which led to the clash in which 10 people were injured.

The workers alleged the Experience Sweaters owners had for long been irregularly paying wages and overtime bills.
