High Court Gives Injunction on Dhaka Siege: AL will Go Ahead

In an unprecedented move, the High Court on Saturday slapped a temporary injunction on the ‘Dhaka siege’ the Awami League-led opposition combine is set to enforce today to push reforms of the system of caretaker government and reconstitution of the Election Commission.

A special bench of the High Court passed the order on the Awami League general secretary, Abdul Jalil, its presidium members, Tofail Ahmed and Suranjit Sengupta, the president of the Workers’ Party of Bangladesh, Rashed Khan Menon and the president of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Hasanul Huq Inu.

The 14-party opposition combine, however, has vowed to go ahead and make the ‘Dhaka siege’ a success at any cost with its leaders expressing their ignorance about the High Court order.
