British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Anwar Choudhury yesterday expressed concern at the surge in violent incidents in the run-up to the general elections in Bangladesh.
He also expressed grave concern about the level of politically-motivated violence which risks tarnishing Bangladesh's reputation as a democracy.
For elections to be free, fair and acceptable, politicians must also be peaceful, he said. Anwar Chowdhury himself was a victim of a grenade attack in Bangladesh.
