Bangladesh's minister of women and children's affairs, Khurshid Zahan Haque, has died of an undisclosed illness. She was 67.
A government statement says Haque died Wednesday morning at a military hospital in Dhaka. She was the elder sister of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
The Associated Press reports acting President Jamiruddin Sircar paid tribute to Haque, saying she worked for the welfare of the nation until her death. He said she will always be remembered as a politician and a social worker.
She is to be buried in her hometown in northern Bangladesh.
