Confusions and Controversy have arisen regarding giving Mother Teresa Award to Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh who is also the opposition leader of the country.
She was scheduled to be awarded in Kolkata by a hitherto unknown organization called, Mother Teresa International Millennium Award. Instead Hasina stayed back in Delhi and met several leaders in Delhi. Media in West Bengal are giving several reasons for this big setback.
One explanation says that this organization has no link with Mother Teresa and it has been disowned by Mother Teresa’s own organization. Other news say that the organization did not take a prior permission from the ministry of the external affairs in India.
Sheikh Hasina eventually postponed her visit to Kolkata and is scheduled to return to Dhaka directly from Delhi.
