Afghan officials say a suicide bomber detonated explosives at a police checkpoint in southern Afghanistan, killing a policeman and injuring six others.
The suicide bomber also died in the attack.
Authorities say the incident occurred Monday in Kandahar city, where several suicide attacks have occurred in recent weeks.
Earlier, a bomb exploded at a university in the western city of Herat, killing one student and wounding seven others. No one has claimed responsibility.
In the eastern province of Khost, officials say a suspected insurgent was killed when a bomb packed into his thermos flask exploded. One bystander was wounded.
In southern Afghanistan, police say they killed at least seven insurgents after they attacked a police checkpoint in Helmand province late Sunday.
The U.S.-led coalition on Monday reported killing 20 insurgents who attacked a coalition patrol on Sunday in the Sangin district of Helmand province.
