General Hussain Muhammad Ershad , the former President and military dictator spelt out the conditions for his party's joining the four-party alliance when BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Tarique Rahman met him at his office on Thursday night. His Jatiya Party (Ershad) has placed its 16-point demand to the government.
The key conditions include immediate disposal of the cases filed against Ershad and his nomination as the president..The government of Khaleda Zia is evaluating the demands. Ershad , who was ousted in December 1990 through a popular mass movement wants a reasonable number of nomination from his party. He also wants all cases alleging him for corruptions should be dropped and he should be made the President of Bangladesh , a post he was ousted from.
In another development ,Jatiya Party (JP) presidium member GM Quader MP has said he will resign from the party if JP Chairman HM Ershad joins the BNP-led four-party alliance. Opposing Ershad's move to join the four-party alliance, Quader said people now want a change in power as the alliance has completely failed to run the country.
