Pakistan says it has arrested several people in connection with the terror plot to blow up passenger aircraft flying to the United States from Britain.
In Islamabad Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said the arrests in Pakistan were coordinated with officials in the United Kingdom.
She said the arrests in both countries followed active intelligence cooperation between Britain, Pakistan and the United States.
Pakistani Junior Information Minister Azim said Islamabad's assistance in foiling the terror plot should put to rest any doubt as to his country's commitment to fighting the global war on terror.
The announcement of the arrests come 13 months after four Islamic suicide bombers killed more than 50 people and injured 700 others on London's transport network.
Three of the four suicide bombers were Britons of Pakistani descent.
