An inter-governmental Islamic group has condemned the kidnapping of two foreign journalists in the Gaza Strip and called for their immediate release.
The head of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, said Wednesday the kidnapping fails to serve the national interests of the Palestinian people.
Palestinian security forces have been searching for the two journalists, who were working for U.S. media outlet Fox News. They were kidnapped Monday in Gaza City. No group has claimed responsibility for the abductions.
On Wednesday, the wife of a cameraman from New Zealand called the kidnappings pointless, saying the men had been sharing the Palestinians' stories with the world. The other kidnapping victim is an American.
