In this edition of Hello Washington, the callers asked questions about how women MPs in Bangladesh be elected. Our distinguished guests were Barrister Maudud Ahmed and Ms. Maleka Begum.
Barrister Maudud Ahmed is the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in Bangladesh. He was Minister for Communication in 1985 through1986.
He had been elected Member of Parliament in 1979, 1986, 1988, 1991 and 2001.
Ms. Maleka Begum, teaches Women and Gender Studies at University of Dhaka and is a leader of Women’s Lib Movement in Bangladesh. She is the Founder General Secretary of Bangladesh Mohila Parishad, the largest Women’s organization in the country.
