Dr Syed Anwar Hossain , Professor of History in Dhaka University expresses his deep concern on the way the Qaumi Madrassahs operate in Bangladesh .
He says that the recent decision to recognize the Madrassah degree as a graduate or an under-graduate degree without having any controls over the curriculum and the source of funding is detrimental to the nation.
Professor Hossain is concerned very deeply about the Islamic militant activities in some of the Madrassas including one in Sylhet where it is alleged that some “foreigners” have been seen going to the Madrassa. He stresses on the separation of politics and religion.
