In a UNICEF survey report it has been mentioned that the death rate of the mothers of newly born children have been increasing alarmingly in the Indian state of West Bengal.
It says that in this eastern Indian state one mother of a newly born child dies in every two hours. The report says that nearly 50 percent of child delivery happens domestically and the death of mother or the child is not enlisted in government documents.
The state health department in West Bengal with UNICEF has taken up some joint projects as efforts to reduce the death rate of the new mothers.
