Shahriar Kabir , a journalist and Human Rights activist from Bangladesh , recently spoke in a conference held in New York , organized by , Bangladeshi Americans Against Terrorism and Center for Inquiry- New York City.
In this interview Shahriar talks about the human rights situation in Bangladesh and he feels that the only way to get rid of terrorism in Bangladesh is to stop politics in the name of religion. He draws a distinction between religious faith and democratic logic.
Shahriar also advocates banning of all those parties and groups who have been using religion for politics. Shahriar Kabir says that although Bangladesh government claims that terrorism has been brought under control , it exists till to this day. He also mentions the poor human rights situation in Bangladesh and says that some liberal minded people have been banned in the supposedly free electronic media in Bangladesh.
