Asim Dasgupta, the finance minister of the Indian state of West Bengal has hailed Professor Muhammad Yunus for his contribution in micro-credit for helping the poor people in Bangladesh.
Mr Dasgupta also said that the rich do not pay back their loan while the poor and particularly the women amongst them repay it very fast.
Mr Dasgupta says that West Bengal too is involved in Grameen projects over the last ten years although their method of work is different . They operate through the elected Panchayat system.
