Sixth  Round of  Talks Begins in Bangladesh  on Monday Amidst Deep Doubts

The sixth round of the bilateral talks between the ruling BNP and the opposition Awami League to ‘resolve the political impasse over the opposition demand for reforms in the caretaker government’ begins on Monday morning.

Both the sides, however, were sticking to their respective positions till late last night, with the BNP reluctant to request Justice K M Hasan not to take over as chief of the interim government and the AL reluctant to make any concession on this issue.

The two negotiators, Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan of the BNP and Abdul Jalil of the AL, will meet at 11:00 am at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban after consulting the top leaders of their respective sides.

Both the political camps held separate meetings to finalise their respective positions Sunday. The leaders of both the sides, however, kept mum as to what transpired in the meetings. They would have last minute consultations among themselves this morning, prior to the sixth round of bilateral talks.
