Violence in Bangladesh has begun affecting life at the Bangladesh-India borders for local tour operators, traders and tourists.
With bus services reduced substantially between Kolkata and Dhaka, several Bangladeshi tourists have been stranded in Kolkata.
Trade between the two countries has been hit worst, with hundreds of trucks lined up on Jessore Road. Indo-Bangla trade was supposed to resume on October 29 after a five-day hiatus for Eid, though that has not happened. As a result, perishable items have started decaying.
