A prominent writer and a former professor of philosophy in Rajshahi University said that in order to make a perfect citizen in the modern world education should be secularized.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla , Hasan Azizul Huq was commenting on a recent threat on him by an Islamic fundamentalist students’ group , Islami Chhatra Shibir , a student branch of Jamaate Islami who were the coalition partners in the BNP led immediate past government . He was threatened because he emphasized on secular general education.
In fact , Hasan Azizul Huq said that in a local newspaper in Rajshahi he was quoted out of context and he sensed that there was something wrong with it. He said that he got the report that the Chhatro Shibir had gathered in front of the University office , used offensive words against him and publicly threatened to kill him.
