  • VOA News

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has called for a complete reshuffling of his cabinet.

In a statement, the prime minister said the current situation in Iraq calls for changes in the cabinet. He did not give any details of the changes he wants to make.

In violence on Sunday, a suicide bomb attack killed at least 35 people and wounded about 60 at a police recruitment center in Baghdad. Most of those killed were young men waiting to join the force.

In southern Iraq, four British troops were killed when their patrol boat was attacked in the city of Basra. British officials said three others were seriously wounded in the incident on the Shatt al Arab waterway.

Coalition officials report that three U.S. soldiers were killed in combat in Al Anbar province Saturday. No further details were released.

South of the capital, authorities are searching for a group of Shi'ite travelers kidnapped by Sunni insurgents on a highway late Saturday.

Gunmen ambushed three minibuses near the town of Latifiyah, killing at least 10 Shi'ite passengers and seizing about 50 others.

The travelers came from the central town of Diwaniyah.
