The West Bengal Government is looking for Joint Venture partnerships with private players to develop coal blocks to meet the deficit in coal supply linkages to the industry.
Principal secretary with the Industry Department Sabyasachi Sen told reporters on Tuesday that the West Bengal Mining Development Corporation, a state PSU, had applied for 15 coal blocks to the Central Government.
Sen said, these blocks were located in the districts of Bankura, Birbhum and Burdwan. The State Government would have majority shareholding in the Joint Ventures.
