Bangladesh Advisers' Committee on Economic Affairs is increasing electricity costs in urban areas by five per cent per unit above 100 units of consumption.
A meeting of the Advisers' Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by committee Chairman Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam took the decision on Sunday.
The procedures to make the new rates effective will be initiated immediately.
