Bangladesh authorities have arrested at least 21 former ministers and senior politicians since Sunday as part of a major anti-corruption campaign.
Security forces said on Tuesday they detained a former forest minister, Tariqul Islam and a former lawmaker, Rashiduzzaman Millat in the capital, Dhaka. Both were members of the former ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the detention of 19 former ministers, parliamentarians and senior politicians from the former ruling party and the main opposition Awami League. They were detained Sunday as corruption suspects and could be held for a month.
