Lawyers, educationists, economists and bosses of non-government organizations, at a seminar on Friday, unanimously said that the registration of political parties with the Election Commission should be mandatory.

The Power and Participation Research Center organised the seminar as part of its ongoing work on governance. With its executive chairman, Hossain Zillur Rahman, in the chair, former law minister of the Awami League government Abdul Matin Khasru, eminent economist Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud, Munira Khan of Fair Election Monitoring Alliance and Badiul Alam Majumder of Shujan took part in the discussion.
