British police have charged a sixth man in connection with an alleged terrorist plot to kidnap, torture and behead a Muslim British soldier.
Prosecutors said Friday one suspect is charged with intention to kidnap and kill a member of the armed forces.
Four other men also face terrorism charges, including helping to equip and fund the alleged kidnapping plot. They were ordered held in prison custody until February 23rd after appearing at London's magistrate court.
The sixth man is accused of withholding information about the alleged plot and is due to appear in the same court Saturday.
Police in Birmingham arrested a total of nine men last week in connection with the case. Three of the suspects have been released without charge.
British media described the alleged plot as a plan to kidnap a British Muslim soldier who had served in Afghanistan, torture and behead him, then post a video of the gruesome events on the Internet.
Iraqi militants have used the same tactic.
