Farmers should Feel Sharing the Efforts in Development : Yunus

A day after stating there was nothing wrong in acquiring agricultural land for industry, visiting Nobel laureate Mohammed Yunus Monday said in West Bengal it should be done with full respect to the farmers' wishes and making them involved in the entire development process.

'You cannot move on the development path by ignoring the contribution of the farmers. So the entire process has to be in a satisfactory manner and by protecting their (farmers') interests,' Yunus said in Kolkata.

India's policy of special economic zones (SEZs), facing flak of late over farmland acquisition, has found a supporter in Yunus with the Grameen Bank founder saying Sunday that industrialisation was necessary for progress.
