Maulana Siddiqullah Chowdhury is the General Secretary and a Member of the Central Committee of Jamiyate Ulamaye Hind in the Indian state of West Bengal. He and his organization are opposing the current policy of the CPM Government in acquiring agricultural land for industrial development.
Last week , in Kolkata , he also met with the US Consul General which stirred some protests from the left front people.
In this exclusive interview with VOA Bangla, Maulana Siddiqullah Chowdhury says that their aim is to ensure that the farm lands are not destroyed in the name of industrialization. He emphasized that his party is committed to communal harmony
