BNP Demands Election by 11 January

Bangladesh Nationalist Party wants Election Commission to hold the stalled 9th parliamentary election before the interim government ends six months in office on July 11.

BNP vice-chairman MK Anwar told reporters Sunday emerging from a meeting with chief election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda that they informed the Election Commission that the election should be held by July 11, when the caretaker government would complete its six months in office.

The BNP delegation led by him requested the Election Commission to announce a timeframe for the next election and a roadmap detailing how the commission would move forward towards holding of the elections.
Two election commissioners, Muhhammed Sohul Hussain and Sakhawat Hussain, also attended the hour-long meeting with the BNP delegation.
