The army-led joint forces picked up three more politicians, including the Awami League’s joint secretary Obaidul Kader, in Dhaka early Friday.
The BNP’s senior joint secretary general Tareque Rahman, who was remanded in custody for four days in an extortion case on Thursday, was interrogated by the Joint Interrogation Cell till Friday evening. The outcome, however, could not be known.
The forces picked up Abul Kashem Chowdhury, vice-president of the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, labour front of the BNP, at Gulshan.
The Chittagong mayor, ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, was shifted to the Bandarban jail and former minister and BNP vice-chairman, Tariqul Islam, was sent to the Dhaka central jail on Friday.
