Officials with the Pakistan Bar Association say lawyers will boycott courts early this week to protest the suspension of the country's top judge.
President Pervez Musharraf ordered Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry removed from the bench on Friday on charges of misuse of authority. The lawyers say the move against Chaudhry was politically motivated.
The government says it has received numerous complaints about Chaudhry, but has not given any details about the charges. Chaudhry has taken up the cases of dozens of people who have disappeared in Pakistan and are thought by their relatives to be held by Pakistani security services.
