The SAARC Car Rally 2007 was flagged off from the bay resort of Cox’s Bazar Thursday afternoon putting out a call to promote tourism and trade in South Asia.
The chief adviser to the interim government, Fakhruddin Ahmed, ceremonially flagged off the rally at the stadium in Cox’s Bazar by putting his signature on a colorful flag of the rally.
Fakhruddin said that the SAARC Car Rally was taking place at an important juncture of our progress towards deeper regional integration. SAARC should increase its efforts to promote the region as a common tourist hub
He also said that efforts should be geared up for joint promotion of the SAARC region as a common tourist destination by pooling our resources together.
