Bangladesh government will issue travel permit to clear the way for bringing back retired major Mohiuddin Ahmed, a convicted killer of the country’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, from the United States.
Foreign affairs advisor Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury told a press briefing at his office on Sunday that they would issue travel permit to bring Mohiuddin back. He added they would be able to bring him back soon.
Responding to a query the advisor said although Bangladesh and US have no extradition treaty, Mohiuddin’s deportation would not be a problem, as Dhaka and Washington have close cooperation in various fields.
He informed newsmen that the ministries of foreign affairs and law are working on the matter.
