The two major political parties in Bangladesh, BNP and Awami League have welcomed the speech of Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed , the Head of the interim government in Bangladesh.
In separate statements by the parties, they have said that the pledge for election in Bangladesh by the end of 2008 is a positive note.
Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan , the Secretary General of the immediate past ruling party BNP ,in a reaction on Friday, said that there are a number of positive perspectives in the Chief Advisor’s speech which includes holding election , constitutional reforms and strengthening local government. But Mr Bhuiyan has hoped that the government will hold discussions with political parties before going for any kind of reforms.
Abdul Jalil, the General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League has termed the Chief Advisor’s speech as a positive step forward because it has given a time frame for holding the election.
