Bangladesh's army backed interim-government has detained more than 170 senior politicians, bureaucrats and business leaders since taking over in January.
Since Monday, authorities have detained 11 people from the country's two main political parties. They including six former government ministers, two businessman, two local mayors and a forestry official.
On Wednesday, the American Embassy in Dhaka expressed its reaction about the current arrests and detention. A spokesman from the Embassy said that United States hopes that Bangladesh government will take necessary steps to allay people’s concerns that the arrests might be politically motivated.
