In a pre-budget news conference of the Center for Policy Dialogue in Bangladesh speakers feel that controlling inflation would be a big challenge for the government in the next financial year. CPD’s Executive Director Debapriya Bhattacharya feels that the next budget will have the impact of the ongoing reforms in Bangladesh.
He also stressed that the government should keep the prices of essential goods for the poor stable. He said that they also felt that some sort of support should be given through both development and revenue expenditure to the people who are getting affected.
Dr Bhattacharya points other challenges too. He says that in this fiscal year there has been very poor income from revenue compared to high expenditure in revenue sector, decrease in the investment for development.
