West Bengal state government has proposed a compensation package for those who will lose land for a housing project at Siliguri in north Bengal.
Land acquisition for the satellite township near Siliguri has already begun. It will be a Rs 2,500 crore joint venture between Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority and a private sector company, Unitech Universal. The project will be set up on 302 acres, West Bengal urban development minister Asok Bhattacharya said on Tuesday.
