Dr. Bimal Paul was awarded a Fulbright-Hays Grant to study natural hazards and related health issues in Bangladesh. Dr. Paul is a professor at Kansas State University.
Dr. Paul and two other professors from universities and twelve teachers from elementary through high schools from United States will be going to Bangladesh to research on their project called “Natural hazards and Related Health Issues in Bangladesh.”
The team will study flood, cyclone, tornado and drought affected areas and develop US geography standards and issues based curricular materials focusing on how people living in Bangladesh cope with their many natural hazards and the influence such disasters have had on health issues in the area. Dr. Paul in an interview with Voice of America, Bangla Service also spoke about the importance of disaster warning systems.
