Officials Discuss Dhaka-Kolkata Train Service


Officials from Bangladesh and India are meeting in Dhaka to discuss train services between the two countries. Talks are intended to settle some unresolved issues.

On the first day of the two-day meeting between the visiting Indian delegation and the Bangladesh side frequency of Dhaka-Kolkata train trips was discussed.

The 14-member Indian delegation is headed by Anwar Ehsan Ahmed, additional home secretary, and 15-member Bangladesh team is led by ATKM Ismail, additional communications secretary.

Meanwhile, Moitree Express, a passenger train from Kolkata, reached Dhaka Sunday afternoon as part of the process of resumption of train service between Bangladesh and India after more than four decades. The train consisting of seven coaches arrived at Cantonment station carrying a 30-member team of officials and technical personnel.
