Tareque Masud’s film Matir Moina (The Clay Bird) is scheduled to be commercially released in Kolkata. However, there is opposition in Kolkata from the West Bengal film industry about its release because Indian films are not shown commercially in Bangladesh.
The film, released in 2002, was shown in 36 countries, picking up a series of awards, including an Oscar nomination and a Fipresci International Critics’ Award at Cannes.
